Working Groups Group for Phytosociological Nomenclature (GPN)

The tasks of the Working Group for Phytosociological Nomenclature (GPN) are to care about the proper application of the International Code of Phytosociological Nomenclature (ICPN), to prepare and implement the new editions of ICPN, to engage in the nomenclature activities that are required by the ICPN (changes and conservation of names, registration of the names of syntaxa, registration of the typifications of the names), and to inform and advise the community of vegetation scientists about nomenclatural issues. GPN aims also to elaborate bridges between different schools of classifying plant communities and to follow the methodological developments in vegetation classification that may have direct or indirect implications on the nomenclature of vegetation types.
